Things To Do In Raleigh

Will you be in town early with some time for adventure? You are in the right place! We’ve compiled some activities on this page so that you can explore the city and see sights that are relevant to Sean and Becky!

The Sean & Becky Tour

We’ve lived and built a life in the Raleigh area. If you’d like to check out some of the places that we often find ourselves, check out some these stops:Β

  1. A Walk at Lake Johnson πŸš—πŸš—. We love this circuit for walking the dog. If you choose to go the full 3 miles keep in mind it does get hilly on the backside! Paddle boat rentals available. Park here.Β
  2. Catch up on work at Nest Raleigh πŸ‘£πŸ‘£/πŸš—. Co-founded by Sean back in 2016 with fellow wedding attendee Michael, this co-working space is a good location to get some work done if you need to. Text Sean at 703 785 4568 for the elevator code and to get a free day pass. Also, the Welcome Party will be hosted here!‍
  3. History Lesson at The City of Raleigh Museum πŸ‘£πŸ‘£/πŸš—. Becky serves as the Co-Chair of the Friends of the City of Raleigh Museum board downtown. You can visit this museum between 9am and 4pm most days.‍
  4. Drive by the Betabox Office πŸš—. Sean’s business recently entered into a partnership agreement with NC State to co-locate our company on the Dorothea Dix Park campus. If you swing by the building, you might just spot a Betabox mobile technology lab or two in the parking lot! They are big and blue and you can't miss them. Visit the β€˜Cherry Building’ at 715 Barbour Dr. Raleigh, NC 27603. If you do go and are in need of a nap, text Sean for how to find the secret hammock spot. ‍
  5. Contemplative walk at Yates Mill Pond πŸš—. If you are up for a peaceful morning walk and a little nature exploring, check out Yates Mill Pond. Right up the road from our house, get here at dawn to see a historic mill, turtles and maybe even a blue heron if you are lucky! ‍
  6. Field Trip to The Ice Machine πŸš—πŸš—πŸš—. Feeling up for a bit of a drive? We operate a commercial ice vending machine that was recently installed out in Pittsboro, NC. If for whatever reason you want to drive 40 minutes to see this, navigate to 517 West St. Pittsboro, NC. If you do, text us for free ice. This is nearby Jordan Lake if you want to make this a Sunday lake day! ‍
  7. Tasty Breakfast at Benchwarmers Bagels πŸš—. Need a good bagel Saturday Morning? Check out our favorite bagel place at the Transfer Co Food Hall. Get there early or the line will be LONG. Becky's favorite is the #1 (get extra napkins) and Sean goes for the Egg / Bacon on Zatar.‍
  8. Tasty Beverage at a Bottle Shop πŸ‘£. If you are near the ceremony venue and want to get the party started early (or just pick something up for later), pop into the Tasty Bev bottle shop. There is a bar in the back, and a great selection of NC beers.  ‍
  9. Chill at Trophy on Maywood πŸš—. If you like drinking and food trucks check out our go to chill (AKA looking at our laptops and working) spot, Trophy on Maywood. Becky likes the Sour and Sean going for the Mythos these days.Β

Classic First Time In Raleigh Adventures:

These activities aren't a part of our weekly routine persay, but they are still awesome things to explore:

‍

  1. Eat some Howling Cow Ice Cream the famous NC State classic πŸš—. Pair this with Yates Mill Pond or if you are stopping by our house.Β
  2. Videri Chocolate Factory πŸ‘£. Yup, Raleigh has a chocolate factory and it is right by the venue.
  3. Check out a LOT of great art and sculpture at NCMA πŸš— πŸš—. Fun side quest, try to find where we took the engagement photos on our website!Β
  4. Check for the Krispy Kreme donut at one of the first ever locationsπŸš—. Call ahead to see if the HOT SIGN is on.Β
  5. Go for a hike πŸš— πŸš—. at the Umstead State Park in RTP.
  6. We’ve been told that the Raleigh Beer Garden πŸš— has the most beers on tap of anywhere in the US. Might need fact-checking, you can do it in person.
  7. Train lovers (you know who you are) check out the new Union Station πŸ‘£! This is right by the venue so a great pop in before the ceremony. Be sure to go up the stairs and check out the balcony.Β Β
  8. Explore the 7-day-a-week State Farmers Market πŸš—. Have a 321 Coffee (local NC State entrepreneurship success story) while you are there.Β
  9. Have a drink at the Heights House πŸ‘£πŸ‘£/πŸš—, a restored Italianate mansion built in 1860. While here, walk over to the Boylan bridge for a great skyline view. Becky and Sean once ran a 6 bedroom Airbnb in the Boylan Heights neighborhood.Β
  10. Check out the Book Bot at Hunt Library πŸš—. Super fancy robot that brings you books, in the beautiful Hunt Library on the NC State engineering campus. Sean spent a lot of time here but actually never used the book bot. Pop down to Lake Raleigh for a little nature walk.Β
  11. Glenwood Ave πŸ‘£πŸ‘£/πŸš— is where the Raleigh nightlife scene is. Not really for us to be honest but we do really love the potatoes at the Willard rooftop lounge.
